Beaked Hazelnut
Beaked hazelnut is a deciduous shrub offering an early-season pollen source for honeybees via its pendulous male catkins, which bloom before leaves emerge in late winter to early spring. It produces little to no nectar, making it a pollen-focused forage plant rather than a honey flow contributor. As a thicket-forming species, it provides habitat but may require protection from deer browsing and occasional pruning to manage suckering.
