Coontie
Coontie produces dioecious cones with pollen and minimal nectar rewards, occasionally attracting honeybee foragers for pollen during its midsummer bloom in subtropical climates. Peak bloom hits in July-August in the northern hemisphere, offering a brief minor forage opportunity. The slow-growing cycad is drought-tolerant once established but highly toxic to mammals, so avoid planting near grazing areas or pets.
