Horsefly Weed
Honeybees visit Baptisia lanceolata primarily for its nectar and pollen rewards during the late spring to early summer bloom period. The pea-like yellow flowers are adapted for larger pollinators like bumblebees, but honeybees can access the floral resources by manipulating the keel structure. Plants develop deep taproots, rendering them drought-tolerant once established, though they are slow to germinate and may require scarification for propagation.
