Jack-in-the-Pulpit

Arisaema triphyllum
In the United States: Native · also called Indian turnip, bog onion, brown dragon

Jack-in-the-pulpit provides limited pollen for honeybees, which may visit occasionally despite the flower's primary attraction to fungus gnats via fungal odor deception rather than nectar. Peak bloom occurs in late spring in temperate climates, lasting a few weeks. This woodland perennial prefers consistently moist, humus-rich soils in shaded conditions and spreads slowly from corms, with foliage potentially subject to deer browsing.
