Milkvetch

Astragalus spp.
In the United States: Introduced · also called cicer milkvetch, chickpea milkvetch

Honey bees visit cicer milkvetch primarily for pollen, with lesser amounts of nectar, though bumble bees are the main pollinators. Peak bloom occurs from June to August in temperate climates, offering a supplementary forage source during summer. This rhizomatous perennial spreads vigorously in moist, well-drained soils and requires insect pollination for seed production; it is non-toxic and non-bloating compared to other legumes.
