Pacific Bleeding Heart
Honeybees forage on this plant mainly for nectar during early spring blooms, which peak in April and May in temperate climates, providing a valuable early-season resource before many other flowers emerge. The pendant, heart-shaped flowers offer modest pollen but attract a range of pollinators; the plant spreads via rhizomes in moist, shaded conditions and may go dormant in summer heat if not kept cool and watered.
