Pride of Houston Yaupon
Yaupon holly offers high nectar and pollen rewards to honeybees during its spring bloom period, serving as a significant early-season forage source that can contribute to surplus honey production. The small white flowers appear from April to May in temperate climates, attracting bees for several weeks and supporting colony buildup. As a dioecious evergreen shrub, it benefits from planting both sexes for pollination, though bees visit flowers on either; it tolerates pruning and is drought-resistant once established.
