Red Buckeye
Red buckeye offers an important early spring source of nectar and pollen for honeybees, coinciding with the period when colonies are building up after winter. Its showy tubular flowers bloom in clusters, drawing foragers to woodland edge or understory habitats. The plant prefers moist, well-drained soils and can form multi-stemmed shrubs or small trees, but all parts are highly toxic to humans and livestock, requiring careful placement away from pastures.
