Shrubby Penstemon

Penstemon fruticosus
In the United States: Native · also called bush penstemon, shrubby beardtongue

Honeybees visit shrubby penstemon for its nectar and pollen from the tubular lavender flowers, which bloom most abundantly in early to mid-summer. This compact subshrub prefers well-drained, rocky soils in full sun and is drought-tolerant once established, making it low-maintenance for pollinator gardens. It can spread slowly as a groundcover but may require occasional pruning to maintain shape.
