Sundrops

Oenothera fruticosa
In the United States: Native · also called narrowleaf evening primrose, sundrops, southern sundrops

Honeybees visit the bright yellow, day-blooming flowers of this perennial for nectar and pollen from late spring through midsummer, with peak activity in June when clusters of saucer-shaped blooms open. It forms upright clumps in full sun and well-drained soils, spreading moderately via rhizomes without becoming invasive. Occasional division helps maintain vigor, and it tolerates dry conditions once established.
